This paper presents the results of research into the effects of minimum wages on employment in New Zealand. Two different approaches are taken one based on changes in the relative employment rates of young adults, and the other on differences in employment changes across industries. Both approaches produce a range of results. The conclusions regarding the negative effects of minimum wage increases on employment are strikingly non-robust.
