The Hub was established by Superu as a legislative requirement to create a database to capture social science research undertaken by or on behalf of the Government. The Hub was launched in 2014. In 2018 Superu was replaced by the Social Investment Agency (SIA) which assumed responsibility for The Hub. This responsibility continued to the Social Wellbeing Agency in early 2020 when SIA was renamed. Then on 1 July 2024, the agency became the Social Investment Agency, a central agency with responsibility for leading the social investment approach across government social sector agencies.
The Agency will continue to be responsible for The Hub. The shift in focus to a social investment approach across the sector will likely mean some significant changes for The Hub.
What’s next for The Hub?
We understand the value of The Hub and are committed to help it remain the one-stop portal for New Zealand government-funded social science research and evaluation.
